Welcome to Iturria

A cosy nest at the foot of the Basque mountains

Maison Iturria is rooted in the heart of Domaine Larralde Borda, in the village of Gamarthe, 10 km from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, on the Camino de Santiago (GR65).

In the Basque language, Iturria means the spring. In this idyllic setting between Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Saint-Palais, the house is home to a comfortable tipi tent and a welcoming cabin.

They are surrounded by hazel and fig trees, hens, sheep and pottoks (pronounced pot-yok), the Basque ponies typical of the region. Cosy cocoons for nature lovers, in peace and privacy.

Once a historic spa known for its iron-rich springs… Charlemagne himself is said to have come here to recharge and take the cure of the Pays de Cize.
